Reorganization of vaccination tasks

The vaccinology activities of the former Dutch Vaccine Institute (NVI) were transferred to RIVM onJanuary 1, 2011. The results of the project on the “Future of RIVM vaccination tasks” in 2012 led to the decision to split up vaccinology and position some of the activities of the unit outside RIVM.

RIVM will remain responsible for research and advice on vaccinations that are currently offered by the Dutch government, and those that may be offered in the future. The activities that will no longer be performed by RIVM are translational vaccine research (bridging the gap between fundamental research and vaccine development) and technology transfer (transfer of knowledge, technology and skills to a wide group of other users).
